Allman Bros Lead - An Allman Brothers patch that I use to play some of their newer material, including "No One Left to Run With" and "Back Where It All Begins." It makes use of the foot controller to shift from a crunchy rhythm sound to a gainy lead for the solos. #======================================================================= #======================================================================= # Program: Allman Bros Lead # Author: Thomas F. Hespos, Jr. # # Description: I use this program to play Allman Brothers tunes # at gigs. My band plays "No One To Run With" and # "Back Where It All Begins." I use this patch for # those two songs. CC pedal does a gain boost for # solos. # # Rig Notes: Patch was created with '93 Les Paul Studio Lite, with # Hot Ceramic Humbuckers, using the bridge pickup. # Guitar -> GSP -> Mackie 1202VLZ -> Crown # Powerbase-1 -> Peavey T-300 speakers. # #======================================================================= #======================================================================= GSP-2101 # Device ID 2.02.1 # Software version Allman Bros Lead # Program Name F7 # Algorithm Number (GigaVerb for Gtr) #======================================================================= # Module Parameter Settings Section #======================================================================= Comp (On, 2:1, -30, -6) # Compressor Dist (On, SaturatedTube, 2.6, 1.3 cc[0.6, 8.0]) # Distortion EQ (+6, 0, +4, +4, -2, +6, +8) # EQ Mvol (+3) # Master Vol FxL (No Sum) # FX Loop NGt (Bypass) # Noise Gate Gig (On, 50, 20, 1, 4, 30, 14, 20, 2500, 5, 6300, 2500, # GigaVerb 2, 1.40, 2.50, 8000, 1.25, 4, 26, 82, 70, 40) Mmix (50/50) # Wet 2 Dry #======================================================================= # End of Program #======================================================================= #======================================================================= # Please send all feedback to spos@dtd.org #======================================================================= From TOM_HESPOS@yr.com Tue Jan 23 06:35:48 1996 Received: from nova.unix.portal.com (nova.unix.portal.com [156.151.1.101]) by jobe.shell.portal.com (8.6.11/8.6.5) with ESMTP id GAA17622 for ; Tue, 23 Jan 1996 06:35:48 -0800 From: TOM_HESPOS@yr.com Received: from yandr-bh.yr.com (yandr-bh.yr.com [206.33.89.66]) by nova.unix.portal.com (8.6.11/8.6.5) with ESMTP id GAA13235 for ; Tue, 23 Jan 1996 06:35:47 -0800 Received: (from uucp@localhost) by yandr-bh.yr.com (8.6.12/8.6.11) id JAA07947 for ; Tue, 23 Jan 1996 09:39:09 -0500 Received: from smtp.yr.com(152.146.5.136) by yandr-bh.yr.com via smap (V1.3) id smaa07925; Tue Jan 23 09:39:00 1996 Received: from ccMail by smtp.yr.com (IMA Internet Exchange 1.04b) id 104f2640; Tue, 23 Jan 96 09:36:20 -0500 Mime-Version: 1.0 Date: Tue, 23 Jan 1996 09:21:18 -0500 Message-ID: <104f2640@yr.com> Subject: Patch: Allman Bros Lead To: gsp-users@portal.com Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Lines: 46 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Description: cc:Mail note part Content-Length: 1977 Status: RO X-Status: Hey everyone: Remember that Allman Brothers patch I said I was going to post at the end of the week. I lied - I'm posting it now. I use this patch to play "No One to Run With," a song off the Allman Brothers' album "Back Where It All Begins." I use the CC pedal to go from rhythm to lead. Although it doesn't go from clean to dirty, as was inquired about in a previous thread (it goes from dirty to dirtier), the patch allows for a mildly distorted rhythm sound and a sustainey lead sound in the same patch. Here goes: Allman Bros Lead Algorithm: F7 - Gigaverb for Guitar Compressor: On, Ratio 2:1, Thresh -30dB, Level -6 dB Distortion: On, Type Saturated Tube, Gain 1 2.6, Gain 2 1.3* Analog EQ: +6, 0, +4, +4, -2, +6, +8 Master Volume: Distortion On +3 dB External FX Loop: Off Stereo Noise Gate: Bypass Gigaverb: Reverb On, PreDly 50ms, Spread 20ms Shape 1, Difusn 4, EQLev 30, PreDly 14 ms, Spread 20 ms, X-Over 2500 Hz Difusn 5, HFDecy 6300 Hz, Roloff 2500 Hz Size 2, RTMid 1.40 s, RTBass 2.50 s Ctrfrq 8000Hz, Q 1.25, Gain 4 dB MidLev 26, BasLev 82, RVLev 70 Master 40 Wet To Dry: 50/50 Isn't that Gigaverb a pain in the ass to program? Anyway, here comes the important part: Link the cc controller to the Gain 2 (not Gain 1) on the distortion. You may have to tweak the min and max values according to your axe/rig. I use min=1.3 and max=8.0 in order to get the proper sound. Distortion's a personal thing. Season to taste... It's fairly dramatic. It's especially fun on long sustained notes. the heel position has almost no sustain and the toe position has GOBS of sustain. Waggling the pedal back and forth is somewhat reminiscent of feedback in front of an amp when you rock the guitar back and forth. I run my GSP through a stereo at home and thru a PA when I play live and this patch sounds great. It would be interesting to see how this patch behaves run thru a Mesa Boogie or Marshall setup like so many of you seem to have... Since I've been sleazy enough to repost someone else's patch, I am probably now obliged to post an original patch some time in the near future.
